LGD Electric / Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

LGD Electric (LGD Electrical Ltd.) handles personal information under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This page explains exactly what we collect through this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and your rights as a BC resident.

Last updated: 2026-05-19.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to LGD Electrical Ltd. (operating as LGD Electric), a British Columbia incorporated electrical contractor with its principal place of business in Vancouver, BC. It covers the website at lgdelectric.com, the contact form on this site, telephone enquiries you initiate to 604 347 8372, and email correspondence to [email protected].

What we collect through the website

The lgdelectric.com contact form collects only the information you choose to enter:

  • Name. So we can address the quote correctly.
  • Phone number. So we can call back, since most BC electrical projects start with a 5-10 minute scoping conversation.
  • Email address. So we can send written quotes, scope documents, permit paperwork, and final invoices.
  • Project address. Vancouver electrical work is jurisdiction-specific (City of Vancouver own permit system, Surrey own, Burnaby own, Coquitlam own, the rest of Metro Vancouver on Technical Safety BC). Address determines which permit authority applies and which inspector route the project takes.
  • Project description. What you wrote about the electrical work needed (panel upgrade, EV charger, knob-and-tube remediation, suite legalization, commercial fit-out, etc.). Used to scope the on-site assessment.
  • Strata vs single-family flag, if you provide it. Strata work involves Form K landlord declarations and BC Strata Property Act Right to Charge framework that single-family work does not. Knowing the property type up front saves a phone call.
  • Photos, if you attach them. Photos of existing panels, fixtures, or fault conditions are used only to scope the quote and are not shared beyond the LGD estimating team.

We do not collect government-issued identification, financial or credit information, social insurance numbers, or health information through the website. Payment for completed work is handled offline after the project, not through the website.

Analytics and search data

This website uses Google Analytics 4 (property G-Z34PN30WBF) for aggregate visitor measurement. GA4 collects:

  • Page views, session duration, bounce events.
  • IP-derived geographic location at the city level. IP addresses themselves are anonymized by Google before storage in GA4 (IP truncation per Google's standard policy).
  • Device type, browser, operating system.
  • Referral source (which search engine or external site led you here).
  • A Google Analytics first-party cookie (_ga and _ga_*) used to distinguish unique visitors over a 14-month rolling window. The cookie is set on the lgdelectric.com domain only.

GA4 data is retained for 14 months by default and is used by LGD to understand which content visitors find useful and which content is not being read. No GA4 data is sold, leased, or otherwise transferred to advertisers. LGD does not run Google Ads or any other paid advertising platform off this website.

We also enroll the lgdelectric.com domain in Google Search Console to see which search queries lead visitors to the site and which pages rank for which queries. Search Console data is aggregate and does not identify individual visitors.

If you do not want GA4 to track your visit, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), set browser cookies for lgdelectric.com to block, or use a browser privacy mode that blocks third-party scripts.

How we use the information you submit

Information you submit through the contact form, by phone, or by email is used for one purpose: to scope, quote, schedule, permit, perform, and document the electrical work you asked about. Specifically:

  • To call or email you back within one business day with a follow-up question or a quote.
  • To file a City of Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, Coquitlam, or Technical Safety BC electrical permit. The permit application names the homeowner or business owner as the property owner of record. Permit applications are public records once filed.
  • To submit a BC Hydro Service Application on your behalf, where the project requires a service change. BC Hydro receives the customer name, service address, and contact phone number.
  • To process CleanBC Go Electric, BC Hydro Power Smart, or other utility rebates on your behalf where applicable. The relevant rebate program receives only the information that the program form requires.
  • To issue final invoices and warranty documentation.

We do not use your information for marketing email blasts, sales calls about unrelated products, or for any purpose other than the project you originally asked about.

Who we share information with

LGD shares your information only with parties that are necessary to complete the electrical project you asked about. Specifically:

  • Permit authority. City of Vancouver, City of Surrey, City of Burnaby, City of Coquitlam, or Technical Safety BC, depending on jurisdiction. Required by the BC Safety Standards Act for any permitted electrical work.
  • BC Hydro. For service-change applications, meter swaps, three-phase conversions, or temporary service requests.
  • Rebate programs. CleanBC, BC Hydro Power Smart, Home Renovation Rebate (Income-Qualified), where the project qualifies and you have asked LGD to process the rebate.
  • Strata property managers and councils. Only for strata-scoped work (Right to Charge EV chargers, common-area lighting retrofits, building electrical upgrades) and only with your consent.
  • Sub-trades, where required. Some projects need a separate gas fitter, structural engineer, or specialty restoration trade. We share project scope and address with sub-trades, never your financial information.

LGD does not sell, lease, rent, or trade personal information. LGD does not transfer personal information outside Canada except where the project requires a manufacturer warranty registration that is administered out of country (rare, and only with your consent).

How long we keep your information

Contact-form submissions that do not turn into a quoted project are retained for 12 months, then deleted. Project files for quoted work are retained for 7 years from project completion, in line with BC tax and warranty record-keeping requirements. Permit documentation, City inspection records, and BC Hydro service-change records may be retained longer where regulatory record-keeping requires it.

You can request earlier deletion of records that LGD is not legally required to keep. Email [email protected] with the address and rough timeframe of the project and we will action the request within 30 days.

Cookies on lgdelectric.com

This site sets the following cookies:

  • _ga and _ga_Z34PN30WBF: Google Analytics 4 first-party cookies. Used to distinguish unique visitors and sessions. 14-month expiry.
  • No other cookies. No advertising cookies, no remarketing pixels, no third-party social cookies, no chat-widget cookies. The site has no chat widget and no advertising integrations.

Security

lgdelectric.com is served over HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or higher and HSTS enabled (Strict-Transport-Security max-age 31536000). The site is hosted in Canada. Contact-form submissions are transmitted over TLS and stored in an access-controlled mailbox. LGD limits internal access to personal information to the office staff and FSR who are scoping or invoicing your specific project.

Your rights under BC PIPA

British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act gives you the following rights with respect to information LGD holds about you:

  • Right of access. You can ask LGD for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, who we have shared it with, and how we have used it. LGD will respond within 30 days.
  • Right to correct. You can ask LGD to correct factual errors in the information we hold (a misspelled name, the wrong address on a permit, an outdated phone number).
  • Right to withdraw consent. You can withdraw consent to LGD's use of your information, subject to legal and contractual constraints (e.g., LGD cannot retroactively un-file a permit application to a City).
  • Right to complain. If you are not satisfied with how LGD has handled your information, you can file a complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (OIPC). The OIPC is reachable at oipc.bc.ca or 250 387 5629.
